#PayItForward: Thoughts on Marriage and Parenting from @MyPatheticBlog

Most Fridays, I will share with you a post from another blog that I find particularly moving, interesting, or funny. They will be posts that fit the DKL mold... ones I think people who read this blog would enjoy. Another blogger I follow started something similar. I also wanted to do this because someone paid it forward to me, giving me tons of new followers. So this is the least I can do...

Sometimes someone writes something so amazing, it actually makes me mad because I didn't think of it and write it myself. My friend Kevin at My Pathetic Blog has done that to me several times. Despite the anger, I just can't quit him. Kevin writes with a self-deprecating humor that's funny and and a humility that's touching. Most recently, he wrote about his children, and the sometimes overwhelming responsibility being their dad carries:

Child, there are four of you. And each and every one of you has the highest expectations of me…and I don’t know why. I have only been a parent as long as you’ve been a child. We are both new to this, you know. You should learn to expect less of me. Yet my biggest fear is that in time you actually will. (This one has laugh, cry AND think. Click here to read the rest.)
The first post of his that was so good it made me angry was this one about marriage. Once I recovered from my fit of narcissism, I wiped the tears from my eyes and was thankful to have read it. Enjoy this truly remarkable post:
My marriage is my home. It all started with two naïve bricks, and now it continues to grow...
Everyday another piece is layered in. Another window to the soul added. Another color painted to the interior. Each additional building material supported by the strength of those two original bricks. It just keeps growing. Those bricks draw more strength by the weight of those joists above it. (Click here to keep reading. You won't be sorry.)
I urge you to follow Kevin's musings on Facebook. You can catch his blog and other funny stuff here. He also has another page that's strictly about having entirely too many kids. (The nerve.) That's funny too and it's right here.
