THE PEANUT GALLERY: Living the Dream

One of the many cool things about this age is that Peanut is learning about real things in school, like Martin Luther King. The best part about it is what she takes from the lesson. When we asked her what she learned about Dr. King, she told us, "his mommy said he couldn't play with white people." Sad, but true.

Then we asked her about his dream. She said it was "for everyone to be happy and safe and nice." Is there a more simple yet perfect way to summarize the reason for this holiday ?

For homework, she had to bring in something from home to represent Dr. King. This was more difficult than  the usual "bring a musical instrument" or "bring something to represent Christmas." We had to think outside the box, and give her more help than normal since this assignment was more symbolic.

Here's what we came up with:

The Batgirl Little Person on a seesaw with a mustachioed black zookeeper Little Person. Why? The Peanut says her dream is to "play with her friends all day long"

Hope everyone who has a long weekend is able to remember his dream and keep it alive in some way.
