#PayItForward: Laugh Out Loud With @GinaValley

Most Fridays, I will share with you a post from another blog that I find particularly moving, interesting, or funny. They will be posts that fit the DKL mold... ones I think people who read this blog would enjoy. Another blogger I follow started something similar. I also wanted to do this because someone paid it forward to me, giving me tons of new followers. So this is the least I can do...

One thing I find especially challenging as a blogger is making you laugh every day. It's difficult. (And I fancy myself a pretty fun guy.) Now while I do post shmaltz here on the blog on a somewhat regular basis, I also try to make you laugh on one of the DKL platforms somehow some way every day. Sometimes, believe it or not, I feel like I fail.

Today's featured blogger doesn't fail. She makes me laugh every day. That's a talent, folks. She tags every one of her posts with "Laugh Out Loud." (That explains the title of this post.) It's not that she doesn't write serious posts. She does. She even shares beautiful poems every Sunday. But whether I'm reading her blog or chatting with her on Twitter, Gina Valley brings the funny. She even posts a regular laugh log, highlighting things that made her laugh that week. She's a talented writer and a genuinely nice person.

Gina weaves tales that anyone can relate to. Her recent graduation series was great. But my favorite post of hers so far is this one, called Who ARE These People? We've all been there. The rules we grew up with as kids go out the window when our parents become grandparents. Here's a sneak preview of the funny:
"My parents never said that we could “watch whatever you like” on TV, or “Let’s watch another movie. You can sleep in if you’re too tired in the morning.” I grew up under the impression that staying up late and sleeping in was a character flaw. These people encourage everyone in the house to do it, and occasionally join in themselves. Who are they?" (I think any parent can relate to this post. Click here to read the rest and laugh out loud.)
Gina is a sweetheart on Twitter who is always willing to join the conversation. And she just started a Facebook page. FINALLY. Go follow her and tell her DKL sent you.

  1. Wow - thank you so much!
Can you see me blushing as I type this?
You are just the sweetest! (I mean that in a very manly way, of course)
It means a lot to know that someone I read likes what I write.
    Thank you again!
